Expansion Underway at The Lothersdale Hotel

Keeping up with Demand at The Lothersdale

The Lothersdale Hotel has a longstanding history in the Morecambe Bay Community. It has been owned by the same Bury family since 1953 and has seen 3 generations sail through the ranks of family heritage to achieve success and progression for the local hotel and award-winning restaurant.

Current owners Paul Bury and his wife Judy have been official proprietors and managers of the hotel since 2011 when Paul’s parents retired from the hotel trade.  Paul grew up in the hotel and lived in the hotel from being born until the age of 18.

Paul has invested £1.5 million into developing and improving the property since 2012, which is testament to his forward-thinking ambitions for the business. He has changed the hotel from a coaching model to a full service hotel catering for all markets.

And now building work is underway to invest a further £1.25 million into The Lothersdale to increase the number of rooms to 54 en-suites. Creating more room categories, especially family/ inter connecting rooms which are also environmentally friendly with a low carbon footprint!

The seamless balance between corporate (as part of the Best Western Brand) and family heritage is a huge achievement. Employees are recruited from the local area and the Lothersdale tries as much as possible to source ingredients and suppliers from Morecambe, the Lancashire county and South Lakeland area. To create the ‘lowest distance from fork to food’ as Paul says.

For the past 67 years, The Lothersdale Hotel has invested in the development of their product for the benefit of its customers and the community and with Eden on the horizon this has never been more important.
