Eden of Morecambe!

Exciting News…Eden is coming!!

We are so thrilled with the recent announcement that Eden of Morecambe has been awarded the £50m government funding that it has been waiting for!

This is fantastic news for Morecambe which has been one of the UK’s most popular seaside destinations, it will also have great benefits for surrounding areas. The Eden Project of Morecambe will focus on education, ecology and community, bringing a whole new experience and attraction to the area. With construction due to start towards the end of the year this is an exciting time!

Eden Project Morecambe will be a destination that combines indoor and outdoor experiences, connecting people with the internationally-significant natural environment of Morecambe Bay while also enhancing wellbeing.

The next stage of funding will involve the acquisition of £50m from investors and private sources, and Lancaster council is working hard with organisers of the Eden Project as well as local businesses.

Around 300 high-quality green jobs will be directly created, with more than 1,000 additional new jobs supported in the region, said the Eden Project. Preparation for construction will start this year and the aim is for Eden to be open by 2026.

Partner organisations include Lancaster University, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council and the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership.

This new attraction will bring a modern twist to the area with means for social, economic and environmental changes that will have a wider impact especially in terms of high visitor numbers. Expected numbers are to be around 700,000 per year with high peak interest in the summer months.

We are supportive of Eden of Morecambe and can’t wait to see the changes and interest it will bring, this is definitely a space to be watched!
